KOSOVO HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND MARKET
Kosovo healthcare system is divided into public and private sectors. The public healthcare services are in general free of charge with a lot of shortages with which patients need to purchase with out-of –pocket payments. Alongside the private health sector is expanding and developing providing healthcare services, but, source fully limited still. The private health sector stands as a prevalent source for patients which can afford them. The country is on the process of creating a Health Insurance Fund with legal framework approved but, the implementation is deficient.
The healthcare market in Kosovo is subjugated by foreign manufacturers which have distributors in our country. So, the market is surplus of different quality for the same product.
The number of wholesalers in the market for medical devices is approximately 70 units registered and there approximately 800 active pharmacies.
